We're thankful for a good night's rest. John-Nathan slept all through the night Tuesday night. He awoke more mellow and has remained so throughout the day. Sure there have been some of his bright, silly smiles, but he has also been adjusting to being with us and away from his norm. We did not have anything that we HAD to do today, which was nice. We are in the waiting phase before getting his Chinese passport Thursday afternoon. We did have an outing to a nearby park which went fine, although he didn't seem too interested. We strolled on down to a KFC where we got him some chicken nuggets and some mashed potatoes and gravy--which he gobbled down. This kid has no trouble eating! (In fact at breakfast this morning at the hotel, he probably ate more than Julianna!) From there we went to a department store and bought him two new pairs of shoes/sandals (see picture) for $8.85, which we thought was a pretty good deal! We all came back to our home-away-from-home and Celinda stayed in with the children while I went back out hunting to provide for my family--actually, I took a taxi to Pizza Hut and returned with a large pepperoni pizza, which we all oohed and ahhed over! Everyone napped at some point this afternoon before getting up for, well, more lounging around the room, wondering what we would have to eat later on, dealing with a grieving child, and getting the little guy a bath and to bed. Please pray for God to work in his little heart and mind to reassure him through his grieving process that it's all ok, that he can love and trust us to care and provide for him fully. It's been a good lesson for us who are God's children to think about how distrusting we are of His provision for us, and how unwilling we often are to relinquish our hold on our former ways.(PR)

Neat seeing the two guys "zonked" out on the bed catching some zz's. Know that it hard for him to understand that he will be leaving a country and heading for the "home of the brave and land of the free." A bath might seem to really feel good for him. Another break from the past it may seem. It is hard for us to imagine that everything is different and new for him and we take so many of those things like a bath and different cloths for granted. Even a pizza would be a relief to us and a new experience for him at almost three. WOW!!!

Good Morning! We're glad to hear you've been able to have some down time there....no doubt it's been needed. We will continue to pray for John-Nathan's transition. May the Lord give his heart the confidence to recognize how much he is loved and cared for by each of you, and may He give you all the patience to see him through it. Ellie has really enjoyed seeing and hearing "Johnny-Nafin"....she's now talking about he and "Nanna".
We miss you, and look forward to your homecoming!

Amen. Yes we are Now the children of God. And we do find it hard to trust Him for our provisions. Hard to believe that God really Loves us. The deceiver would have us to believe that He does not love us. 1 John 3:1-2 "Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us that we should be called the Sons of God..." Sleep in peace

Glad you guys were able to rest some today. I love the picture of him napping beside his Daddy...how sweet!
I hope each day is a little better...he has a wonderful life ahead of him and will always be surrounded by people who love and want him.

John-Nathan has looked so happy - I know as he realizes that his life has changed so drastically he will also realize how much you love him and pray that this will be a short process for all of you. You are so right about being an object lesson to all of us to TRUST when things change in our own lives. If only John-Nathan could see what wonderful and great things await him in his new life - especially learning all about the Lord Jesus and hopefully coming to know Him at an early age. Praying also for everyone's health.

Isn't the adoption of our children such a physical parallel to Our Father's spiritual adoption of us into His family? Just as our children learn to relinquish control and trust us, we see how we struggle to trust, when there is never any question that we are safe, loved, watched, provided for. You will continue to be amazed as the Lord gives you a glimpse into your own soul on this journey you have just begun to walk! Your boy is a precious one!!! Love the photos.

We are getting ready to go to bed and you guys are already up on the 11th. I was looking at the picture of John-Nathan and his cover-all pants and all he needs is a fishing pole and a cap to make the picture all Americana. Last day in Taiyuan for you all and I am sure the flight tomorrow will be an adventure for you all and especially John-Nathan. WOW!!! Take care and have a great day.

How precious! How thankful we are for the photos and this cool way of communicating. Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to share with us. We love you and miss you. We are so eager to greet our new friend. When we pass by your part of town, Daniel thinks we are in China :)
