Bei-jing = North Capital. After a plentiful breakfast in our host's house, we headed out to explore some of the more well-known sites in Beijing. We are touring in Beijing with another family (from Bloomington, IL) who are here to adopt their second little girl from China.Here we are at the Temple of Heaven, where the emperor used to come worship.
We took in a breath-taking Chinese acrobat show.
The rickshaw ride was a unique way to see street life up-close...much too close at times! The video footage will be much more interesting!
Inside the Forbidden City.
Outside the Forbidden City, at Tien An Men Square. The 4th person in our family is none other than Chairman Mao.
Among other things, Peking Duck for lunch--yes, even the head was "peeking" at us!
Another table-full of food at dinner as well. But everyone was so exhausted from all the walking today that we really didn't eat too much.

Wow! What an exciting day! We're glad you're experiencing so much of China while you're there! It will be special to share these memories with John-Nathan when he is older! We hope you're catching up on much needed rest, and ready for more exploring tomorrow!

sorry I missed your call on Skype. Dad was happy to see/talk with you. Dad did say you all looked very tired. Any "to go" boxes? Hope rest is sweet tonight and you feel refreshed in the morning. Be glad when you have a down day--but that may be when you return. I love you, talk with tomorrow.

You 3 look like typical American tourists and remind me of Paul Bahna when he first went to China to see Robin. It must be exciting to see in person things up until now you'd only read about. I've got my calendar marked for "Gotcha Day".

It is exactly 12 hrs. away where we are. Its fun to pray with you all and get such real time news and see who all is following your journey with love and prayers. "From the rising of the sun (China)to the going down of the same (USA), the Lord's name is to be praised".
